Updated Web Page!!
Yes, finally some updates to the website. With the demands of on-site support, Mouseworks has had to delay the introduction of an online shopping cart system. Given the level of ongoing support Mouseworks provides to existing system clients and companies, it is not our intention to compete on price but rather to offer a service with our usual full support. We can provide backup for the hardware we sell.
It always amazes us that if you need an operation, you go to a surgeon who knows, hopefully, what he is doing but to buy the most complicated electrical device known to man, a lot of people still go to a furniture store or a whitegoods retailer. They then get the backup and support such a reseller can provide - zero.
Windows 2003 to be a "Legacy" system
Mouseworks can provide a consultancy service to handle all
aspects of any transition from Microsoft's older server platforms - Windows 2003 and Windows 2000 Server - to Windows 2008 Server. Support of these "legacy" systems is now on a pay only basis from Microsoft. We strongly recommend that large organisations prepare in advance for migrating to Windows 2008 Server and it's new Active directory and security models.

Microsoft Windows Windows 7
32 & 64 Bit Editions
Microsoft have
released a multitude of Windows 7 versions
for both professional and home use. Mouseworks has been trialling
Windows 7 for some time now and can advise on some of the pitfalls in
Windows 7 operations and rollouts.
There are several changes in Windows 7 - most noteably in
interface layout and driver design and it is these later changes that have resulted in Mouseworks having to re-define its' standard hardware platform to some extent.
Having always focussed on maximum hardware upgradeability, Mouseworks has been rolling out Intel based 64 bit solutions using Xeon and i7 Core processors where possible. This has given our clients the option of going to 64 bit should their current 32 bit systems prove inadequate. Mouseworks now has quite a bit of experience with 64 bit drivers and "cross platform" compatability issues.
This has
continued with the release of AMD's Phenom Quad Core CPU's and the
newest Opteron derivatives.
Voice Over IP
VOIP has progressed from buzzword to real technology with the introduction of numerous products for telephony over internet. This allows voice calls to be made over the same internet connection that you may already have - as long as it is broadband. Yes, there is some loss of audio quality but calls can be made at zero cost to "known" recipients - those who have fixed IP, or real Internet address, that you know of. For a small fee, callsover the internet can be routed to an existing landline via a third party call handler.
Mouseworks is currently testing Netgears' VOIP add-on to an existing phone and we are yet to chose a preferred provider for our clients. The technolgy is very interesting and several providers such as Skype offer attractive deals but the hidden costs are yet to be determined.
As usual, the bigger providers - Telstra, Optus etc. are the most expensive and the slowest to implement this technology. At present, Engineer has the lead but Skype remains an attractive, low cost, favourite. Beware the hidden costs.
